   Georgian Research and Educational Networking Association - GRENA is union registered in Tbilisi, Georgia under the Georgian law on July 26, 1999.

The primary mission of GRENA is creation of a unique information infrastructure connected to Internet for Georgian research and educational institutions, libraries, academic hospitals, international organizations working in education and their programs. GRENA offers Internet connectivity (permanent links and dial-ups) as well as other additional services (web, ftp, news, DNS etc). There are also several areas of growing importance e.g. security problems and networking policy.

GRENA provides more than 100 institutions (about ten thousand hosts) with connectivity to Internet. These institutions are mostly located in Tbilisi. GRENA also provides Internet service in 3 major cities of Georgia: Kutaisi,Batumi and Telavi.

Development projects are being carried out in cooperation with universities and research institutions with the support of NATO Science Programme and Open Society - Georgia Foundation. GRENA has acquired experience in most of the advanced technologies, for example wireless, fiber-optics etc.
